Sarah S., Facebook review
“Used Highlander Removals this week for a house move within Central Inverness. Great price, professional, and the team were kind, and fun - taking some of the stress out of the huge task of moving. Nothing seemed too much trouble for them, and they were careful with our heavier antique furniture. Highly recommend.”

What to expect

From the day before your job to the moment everything is in place, here is how we work.

  1. The day before

We contact you to confirm the job and make sure all the details are correct.

  2. On the day

We keep you updated with any relevant information about the job.

  3. When we arrive

We assess the job to check it matches the description and information you gave us. If it does not match, it may affect the final quote.

  4. Loading and moving

Everything is treated with care and secured properly for its protection. We use the highest quality protective sheets and straps, along with smaller, more versatile sheets and bungees.

  5. Unloading

We place your items where you would like them, within reason.

  6. Final payment

Once your items are loaded or unloaded, the final payment may be requested, depending on the job, its size and the distance travelled.

Care for everyone

We are able to support vulnerable customers and those with special needs, with kindness, care and support. We are animal friendly too.

Valuable and fragile items

If an item is too expensive or too fragile, we may not be able to take it, because of our insurance protection. Please tell us about any such items when you ask for a quote.

Payment

A deposit secures your booking. The amount depends on the size of the job and the distance travelled, and is given with your quote. For long-distance jobs we require 50% to 100% of the quote in advance, for security and to help prevent fraud and scams. Deposits are lost for late cancellations: less than 48 hours before the job for bookings made a week or more ahead, or less than 24 hours for bookings made at shorter notice. We accept the following payment methods.

  • Cash

    Pay in cash.

  • Bank transfer

Bank details are sent with your quote.

Please use your name as the payment reference.

  • Card payment

Pay by debit or credit card.

  • Invoice for businesses

For businesses and organisations, we can invoice you.

Frequently asked questions

Can't find your answer? Call us on 07724 133305 or email Highlander.Removals@gmail.com.

How do I get a quote?

Fill in the quote form, email us at Highlander.Removals@gmail.com, or call 07724 133305. Tell us what you need moving, clearing or collecting, where from and to, and your preferred date, and we will come back to you with a price.

What affects the price?

Every job is quoted individually, based on the size of the job, the distance and the access. Loft or attic conversions, home extensions, outhouses, sheds, garages and garden items are priced separately from the main home move. We also charge for flights of stairs in flats and apartments, because they add extra work and time. If the van cannot park close by, or if major obstacles block the path or put the safety of our team at risk, this will also affect the quote.

Where do you work?

We are based in Inverness and cover the whole of the UK, including the Highlands and Islands, Glasgow, Manchester, London and Exeter. If your location isn't listed, get in touch and we will let you know if we can help.

What size of job can you take on?

We do small to large home moves. Our 3.5 tonne L3 Luton vans have 22 cubic metres of space, which is the load of a 2 to 3 bedroom house. We also use long wheelbase, high roof jumbo vans with 12.4 cubic metres of space, a 3 metre internal length and a 2 metre internal height. These suit multiple item collections, up to small 1 bedroom flat moves. Tell us the size of your job when you ask for a quote and we will confirm what is needed.

Do you do house clearances and waste disposal?

Yes. We offer house clearances, scrap collection and domestic waste disposal. We are registered with SEPA as a waste carrier (WCR/R/3014274). Please tell us which items you want taken when you ask for a quote. We cannot take fridges, freezers, gas canisters, or any hazardous, explosive or toxic materials, chemicals or liquids, as the waste disposal site will not accept them from us. Mattresses, sofas and anything with foam padding cost extra to dispose of, because the foam contains toxic materials and has to be specially processed.

Are you insured?

Yes. We carry Goods in Transit insurance and Public Liability insurance.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

Yes. A deposit secures your booking. The amount depends on the size of the job and the distance travelled, and is given with your quote. For long-distance jobs we require 50% to 100% of the quote in advance, for security and to help prevent fraud and scams.

What if I need to cancel?

Please tell us as soon as you can. Deposits are lost for late cancellations: less than 48 hours before the job for bookings made a week or more ahead, or less than 24 hours for bookings made at shorter notice. See our Terms and Conditions for more.

How can I pay?

We accept cash, bank transfer and card payment. Businesses and organisations can ask to be invoiced. Bank details are sent with your quote.

Who gets a discount, and what proof do I need?

We offer 10% off to OAPs, NHS workers, emergency services, veterans, churches, schools and children's community centres. Proof of eligibility is required, such as an ID card, a registration number or other relevant information. Mention your discount when you ask for a quote. If you have used a discount, we would be grateful for a review on Google or Facebook, to help other people find out about them.

Do you work with businesses and organisations?

Yes. Since 2018 we have worked with commercial businesses, charities, colleges, universities, building contractors, property developers, regional councils, major suppliers and the general public.

Do you offer packaging?

Yes. We can supply packaging materials at extra cost. Select packaging on the quote form or mention it when you contact us.
