Terms and Conditions

Last updated 22 October 2026

These terms apply when you book a service with Highlander Removals, 61 Dell Road, Inverness, IV2 4TZ. They sit alongside the quote we send you. If anything in your quote is different, the quote applies.

Our services

We provide home moves, house clearances, packaging, collection and delivery, scrap collection, domestic waste disposal, and dismantle and rebuild of general house and garden furniture, for households and organisations across the UK. We carry waste under our SEPA registration, WCR/R/3014274.

Quotes

Your quote is based on the information you give us about the job, such as what is being moved, the addresses, access and dates. Please tell us about anything that could affect the job, including stairs, lifts, parking restrictions, narrow access, and unusually large or heavy items. We contact you the day before the job to confirm the details. When we arrive, we assess the job to check it matches the description you gave us. If it does not, we may need to change the price, and we will tell you before we go ahead.

What affects the price

Loft or attic conversions, home extensions, outhouses, sheds, garages and garden items are priced separately from the main home move. We also charge for flights of stairs in flats and apartments, because they add extra work and time. If the van cannot park close by, or if major obstacles block the path or put the safety of our team at risk, this will also affect the quote. Anything priced separately will be shown in your quote.

Booking and deposit

Your booking is confirmed, and your date is secured, when we receive your deposit. The deposit amount depends on the size of the job and the distance travelled, and is given in your quote.

For long-distance jobs, we require 50% to 100% of the quote in advance. This is for security and to help prevent fraud and scams.

Discounts

We offer a 10% discount to eligible customers, as listed on our website. To qualify, proof of eligibility is required, such as an ID card, a registration number or other relevant information. Any discount is confirmed in your quote once we have seen your proof.

Payment

We accept cash, bank transfer and card payment. Businesses and organisations can ask to be invoiced. Please use your name as the payment reference. The balance is due as set out in your quote or invoice. Depending on the job, its size and the distance travelled, the final payment may be requested once your items are loaded or unloaded.

Changes and cancellations

If you need to change or cancel your booking, please contact us as soon as you can so we can rearrange or free up the date. Deposits are lost for late cancellations. A cancellation is late if it is made less than 48 hours before the job, for bookings made a week or more ahead, or less than 24 hours before the job, for bookings made at shorter notice.

What you need to do

Clearances and waste

For clearances, collections and waste disposal, please tell us which items you want taken. We will dispose of waste in line with the law. We cannot take items we are not legally allowed to carry, and we will tell you if that applies to anything you have asked us to remove.

Insurance and responsibility

We carry Goods in Transit and Public Liability insurance. We take reasonable care of your belongings and your property, and secure them with protective sheets and straps. If an item is too expensive or too fragile, we may not be able to take it, because of our insurance protection. Please tell us about any loss or damage as soon as possible, and ideally on the day, so we can look into it and, where appropriate, deal with it through our insurance. Please ask us if you would like details of our cover. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under the law.

Delays outside our control

We will do our best to arrive and complete the job on time. We are not responsible for delays caused by things outside our control, such as severe weather, road closures, accidents or vehicle breakdowns, but we will keep you informed and rearrange where needed.

Complaints

If something goes wrong, please tell us straight away at Highlander.Removals@gmail.com or on 07724 133305, and we will do our best to put it right.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and the Scottish courts have jurisdiction over any dispute.
